Par For The Course
Par For The Course
Par for the Course is based on the principle that a golfer is only as good (or bad) as his last shot, so each golfer's Rating for the next three holes depends on how well he did on the previous three holes. So not quite ˜last shot" but more ˜last three holes", but same sort of idea !
This concept can replicate the ˜purple patches" (and Tiger Woods' typical final round ˜charge") and the mid-round crisis that strikes golfers of whatever standard everywhere in the world when suddenly, after a poor shot, the fairways grow narrower, the rough deeper and the greens sprout ˜runways" that take the ball anywhere but near the hole. In many sports confidence is a major player, in golf it can actually become the player!
This simulation comes with Ratings for many All-Time-Great golfers, both men and women. But the game engine is designed to allow the user to rate his/her own contemporary players, merely by converting their current World or European Ranking into a Rating. So no more annual up-dates, the game is ˜endless" as long as Ranking lists are published and, of course, there are easily accessible sites on the internet with that information in convenient form.
Playing time is about 2 minutes per group of four players per round, so 30 or 60 player tournaments over four rounds are playable in an evening.
